Biogenous and lithogenous sedimentary rock.
This rock consists of clam-shell hash imbedded in a calcareous sandy mudstone matrix. This shell has was heavily bioturbated, probably deposited on or near the shoreline of an embayment on the ancient San Diego coastline.
This sample is from the Santiago Formation (Eocene age) from San Marcos, California. |
